a black and white photo of a wall

A warm hand coldly extended
This gleam in the eye, so inviting
Betrayed by words, oh, so clever
To feign love and reveal, not ever
The intent of malice inciting

The dove lights upon the unwary
With true love ever forsaken
A totem of peace now bodes sordid
Leaving tender innocence shaken
How insolence renders truth morbid

And man stands ashore so engrossed
He tends to the intrigues of battle
Raising his high standard, morose
On display, his self-righteous mettle
Cold blood does surrender truth gross

In trade for it’s final death rattle
Old tales of compassion revoked
The fires of falsehood replete
Fraternity burning and stoked
The lust for rapine never choked
The hot hammer of hell is deceit!
